Modes and Rumors for CoD 2021

It’s confirmed: the upcoming Call of Duty game will feature four distinct modes:

  • Campaign
  • Multiplayer
  • Warzone (an inevitable integration, though the specifics remain unclear)
  • Cooperative Mode

Almost immediately, the community speculated that the cooperative mode would likely be a zombie mode. This assumption gains traction given that Sledgehammer’s previous entry had its own unique take on zombies. However, a new rumor suggests that Treyarch will helm the zombie mode for this year’s installment. While this seems logical—given Treyarch’s storied history with zombies—it contradicts earlier whispers that hinted at zombies becoming a standalone franchise.

Personally, I’d welcome the inclusion of zombies as a cooperative mode in every new release. Special Ops in MW2019 felt lackluster, to say the least.

What’s Cooking in Call of Duty 2021’s Cooperative Mode?

Officially, the game will consist of the aforementioned four parts. However, insiders suggest that the cooperative mode will continue the WWII zombie narrative, distinct from Treyarch’s well-known zombie formula.

For a sneak peek into what this might entail, here’s some gameplay footage that provides a glimpse into what could be in store.

It’s not about being good or bad; it’s about offering a different flavor of gameplay, and variety is, after all, the spice of life—or in this case, gaming.
