New Mobile Call of Duty Game in Development

The gears are always turning at studios like Beenox and Activision Shanghai, but now there’s a new mobile-centric studio in the mix. The standout feature? The game will tie into its older counterparts, likely making it Warzone Mobile. And yes, cross-platform lobbies are probably in the cards.

Activision has confirmed that they are assembling a fresh team tasked with developing “Call of Duty Mobile AAA.” This new ensemble will be at the helm of crafting what’s expected to be a top-tier mobile gaming experience.

“We’ve built our mobile games studio and are actively recruiting at Beenox and Activision Shanghai, who are jointly leading our new, unannounced mobile project in the Call of Duty franchise that we’re really excited about.

Our maiden voyage is a new AAA game for mobile devices within the Call of Duty universe, and we are seeking talented individuals who work across mobile, console, and PC platforms, and who are passionate about their craft and share our belief in the potential and quality of AAA mobile games.”

Given the ongoing success of Call of Duty Mobile in the mobile gaming arena, it’s no surprise that a Warzone-themed mobile game is on the horizon. The current plan is to roll out the game in 2021. However, with a studio budget set at a whopping $1 billion, will the game live up to the immense expectations?
