Steam published the January rating of the most popular video cards

In the online service, the most popular video cards on Steam for January are listed, which were chosen by users themselves in 2022. The collection of statistics could have been influenced by every registered gamer, indicating their preferred hardware in their account or allowing Steam to automatically detect the chip used in their PC.

If you’re wondering which video cards are needed for Steam, this statistics will come in handy. As it turns out, the ranking of the most popular video card is held by the GTX 1060 – it is installed on 7.79% of all gamers’ PCs. Interestingly, this card is already considered old by modern standards, as it was released in 2016.

The honorable second and third places in the “most popular video cards for 2022” ranking are occupied by Nvidia’s latest creations – the GTX 1650 (6.36%) and the GTX 1050 Ti (5.82%), respectively. The industry giant in video card manufacturing didn’t stop at the top spots, confidently occupying all 13 of the top positions in the ranking. There were no surprises in this regard, as most gamers have various cards installed, including outdated models.

Popular video cards are not the only thing that interested Steam users. Using the most in-demand platform, players were able to learn about the most common operating systems on PCs. Windows holds the undisputed leadership with 96.17% of users, of which 77.82% have installed “Windows 10.”

Another object of research was the amount of RAM used by gamers. Almost 50% of players can boast 16 GB, while 25% have 8 GB of RAM installed. The remaining gamers have either less than 4 GB or more than 64 GB of RAM at their disposal.
