What games to play in April 2022

March was cold and gloomy in terms of events, and we hope April will be calmer and better, at least warmer. However, gamers have a reason to rejoice, as many different games are set to be released this month.

For example, on April 1st (April Fools’ Day), a small indie game about knights called “Knightfall: A Daring Journey” was released. It was initially available for free in the first few days, but now it costs 154 rubles.

Additionally, on the same day, a minimalist arcade game called “Craft Hero” was released by the Chinese studio PandaCat. In this game, the main hero needs to survive in a fantasy world and do everything to avoid being killed by the Dark Lord. It’s especially dangerous at night, so you need to gather resources during the day and defend yourself from attacks.

April has a lot of cool releases that are worth paying attention to. Below, we’ll tell you which releases should not be missed and recommend playing these games. However, there are also releases that are not worth much attention.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Release Date: April 5, 2022, by developer TT Games, available on platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S.

Another game in the LEGO series, this time focused on “Star Wars” once again. It’s an arcade action game based on the movies, telling the story of the Skywalker family, from Anakin’s fall and transformation into Darth Vader to Rey’s victory over her own grandfather, Emperor Palpatine, in the ninth episode, where she takes on the famous name.

In terms of gameplay, the game doesn’t differ much from previous LEGO titles; it remains a third-person action game where you’ll do a lot of jumping, running, resource gathering, and battling other characters. Expect plenty of humor and satire from the developer.

Godfall Ultimate Edition

Release Date: April 7, 2022, by developer Counterplay Games, available on platforms: PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5.

A new fantasy action game designed specifically for PlayStation 5. It’s something of an exclusive, although the original Godfall game was critically panned. Our website gave the game a score of less than 4 out of 10. Even that score is quite generous, as other platforms like Metacritic rate it at 58 from critics and less than 3.7 from players. So, it’s unclear why the developers decided to release this expansion and sequel.

We still recommend trying it out if it comes with a complete package of additional content. It’s worth noting that there should also be a paid expansion called “Fire & Darkness” and three content add-ons: “Primal,” “Lightbringer,” and “Exalted.”

New powerful knights, abilities and skills, enhanced armor, and more are promised by the game’s creators. Whether or not to acquire Godfall Ultimate Edition is, undoubtedly, up to you.

Chinatown Detective Agency

Release Date: April 7, 2022, by developer General Interactive Co, available on PC.

Chinatown Detective Agency is a cool pixel art-style quest game with a side-scrolling camera perspective. The game tells the story of heroine Amira Darma, who used to work for Interpol but has now become a detective. Her task is to solve the most complex cases and help numerous people. Sometimes, you’ll have to make decisions that can change the fate of the city.

All events take place in the future, in the year 2037, and the world is currently unstable with the economy in Turmoil, leading to a variety of cases in the city. It’s a cool old-school adventure in Chinatown Detective Agency.

Demeo: PC Edition

Release Date: April 7, 2022, by developer Resolution Games, available on PC.

Demeo: PC Edition is a card-style game with RPG elements and a fantasy setting. In the game, you can be a wizard, hunter, assassin, or bard, and your main goal is to assemble a deck of champions to win. The game promises multiplayer and cooperative gameplay.

There’s nothing supernatural about the game, but if you enjoy tabletop role-playing games, we recommend giving this one a try.

Forgive Me Father

Release Date: April 7, 2022, by developer Byte Barrel, available on PC.

Forgive Me Father is a cool first-person shooter with a touch of old-school style, designed in a comic book-inspired aesthetic that draws inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft and retro classic Blood.

Players can choose between two characters: a holy father or a journalist. They find themselves in the town of Providence, which is very dark and unfriendly, with lots of strange occurrences happening.

Every resident has gone mad in their own way, and the streets are filled with all sorts of unholy creatures. You can use your holy word or your gun to help solve the problems in this town.

The game has been in semi-closed beta testing and early access for over half a year and is set to release on April 7. We plan to purchase and release a full review, and we recommend you give it a try at least once.

Uragun

Release Date: April 12, 2022 (early access) by developer Kool2Play, available on PC.

Uragun is a new top-down run-n-gun shooter styled game. The main character is a dangerous individual who has recently awakened to find a world overrun by artificial intelligence. Survival is possible if you have strategic thinking and good weapon skills to eliminate enemies.

The hero has been in stasis for a long time and initially doesn’t understand the extent of the changes that have occurred on Earth. Major cities are in ruins, there are hardly any living people left, and aggressive robots roam everywhere.

Astral Ascent

Release Date: April 12, 2022, by developer Hibernian Workshop, available on PC.

Astral Ascent is an upcoming strong 2D rogue-lite platformer set in a modern fantasy world. There are a total of 4 heroes to choose from, each with their own unique abilities. They must help you escape from the prison of the Zodiacs, with 12 Zodiacs standing in your way.

What fighters are there?

• Ayla – she’s the survivor, hailing from the assassins’ guild. With two powerful daggers, she can swiftly dispatch any enemy and is considered the fastest and strongest.
• Kiran – he’s endured much tragedy in his life and uses all his strength to deliver wide swings to his opponents.
• Kaeli – she creates exquisite sculptures and can kill enemies using precious stones, showcasing her strength.
• Octav – he trained under a powerful witch, allowing him to summon ether cannons and craft powerful weapons.

The game features trendy pixel-art graphics with smooth animations and beautiful backgrounds. Cooperative gameplay on a single screen is also possible.

Crimesight

Release Date: April 14, 2022, by developer Konami Digital Entertainment, available on PC.

Cooperative detective gameplay awaits players in Crimesight, where they will have to solve various crimes. All events take place in London in the year 2075. The main task is to conduct a systemic analysis using Foresight AI to prevent crimes, as it has already helped reduce crime rates in the world by 90%.

Now there is a critical alert that the entire world may soon perish. The developers of the system have created a new artificial intelligence called Sherlock, named after the most famous detective. It can solve crimes and predict future catastrophes. In addition to these systems, there is Moriarty, which is strong and powerful but belongs to the villains.

In the game, there is a criminal and other detectives who must thwart the criminal’s plans. The game is somewhat reminiscent of Among Us or Dread Hunger.

Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodhunt

Release Date: April 27, 2022, by developer Sharkmob AB, available on PC and PlayStation 5.

The free-to-play battle royale game Bloodhunt is soon to be released in full, after previously being in early access and a closed beta with 2 acts. The plot is simple, vampires in Prague, Czech Republic, are struggling to divide the regions among themselves, and the Masquerade may be at risk.

The Inquisition fighters want to kill all vampires as they pose a threat to regular civilians and believe they are the very first in evolution.

Players can choose characters from the Camarilla clans, each with their unique abilities and skills. Each character has two active abilities and one passive ability. One can run fast, another can hide, and a third can teleport quickly and vanish – these are just some of the heroes’ abilities. The main combat involves the use of melee or ranged weapons.

Players will roam and explore the nighttime city of Prague, hunt humans, eliminate hunters with legendary weapons, and gather resources. This is what you need to do if you plan to play the game; the main goal is to be the last one standing in this dynamic shooter.

So, this is our lineup of releases for April. There are some worthy games that our authors will definitely be playing, and there are some passable ones, but we can’t ignore them because someone is looking forward to them.

Play only good games; don’t waste your time on bad ones.
