How to Get the Wakizashi Sword in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

In Season 1 of CoD: Black Ops Cold War, gamers have the opportunity to use unique melee weapons in battles. However, to obtain one of them, you’ll need to complete a series of challenging tasks. In Season 1, several in-game content additions were made, including two weapons. One of them is the Wakizashi sword in Cold War, an upgraded version of the combat knife with an extended blade that increases the damage radius (but comes with a speed penalty).

How to Get the Wakizashi Sword in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

To earn the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Wakizashi sword, players need to successfully complete the task of “Performing 2 Finishing Moves in 10 different matches of any type.” Importantly, the final blow must be delivered with a knife. Otherwise, the task will not count. Like other Black Ops challenges, you can track your progress in the menu.

Regarding the drawback of the Wakizashi sword in Cold War (slower speed), finishing moves always have an accelerated animation, so the slower speed of this weapon is balanced by that. Moreover, obtaining the Wakizashi sword is easier than, for example, earning the Sledgehammer, as you only need to complete 10 challenges (instead of 15 as with the Sledgehammer).

Perks, Modes, and Maps Useful for Completing the Challenges

Most likely, there will be serious competition for the Wakizashi sword in Cold War (due to the automatic matchmaking system in Cold War). However, there are some secrets that will help you easily and quickly obtain this coveted weapon:

  • Use perks like “Ghost” and “Ninja” to facilitate sneaking up on enemies and hiding from enemy radars.
  • The “Tracker” perk is also useful as it can show you where enemies are located.
  • Playing in the Holiday Nuketown 24/7 mode is advisable, as you can hide from enemies behind garages, for example.
  • Another good option is the Raid 24/7 mode, but it’s suitable only for gamers who are familiar with the map.
  • Always vote for objective game modes in 24/7 (e.g., Hardpoint or Domination).
  • If you are playing on smaller maps, you can try switching to larger locations like Combine. It’s a risky method but may work.

Don’t forget that before unlocking the Wakizashi sword, you must use a knife for the finishing move.
